What: We’re going rock climbing at the Triangle Rock Club (TRC). We’ll be locked-in from 9 pm to 7 am for fun and pizza.
When: Meet at Phillips Midlle School at 8:30 pm Saturday, December 7. Pick-up Sunday morning at 8 am at Phillips Middle School.
Transportation: Leaders and parents, as needed, will drive us to and from TRC.
Food: We’ll order pizza at 10 to 11 pm – otherwise bring what personal snacks you want.
We will stop for Leader coffee and a doughnut for scouts at Dunkin’ Doughnuts on Sunday morning.
Cost: $30 includes climbing equipment, climbing, and pizza. Please bring your money and risk/release waiver form to the December 4 Troop meeting. I will have some blank copies of the waiver form at the meeting.
What to Bring:
- Complete and signed risk/release waiver (additional copies can be downloaded at http://www.trianglerockclub.com/trchtml/waiver.html)
- Loose, athletic clothing
- Sleeping bags, pillows, blanket, etc.
- Personal food. TRC has a kitchenette with a fridge and freezer, sink, and microwave. Please bring your own utensils and plates and cups if you’ll need these.
The TRC will provide all necessary climbing equipment. They also offer a selection of products from sports drinks to energy bars for purchase.
What to expect: We can start arriving around 9pm. Once the gym closes at 10pm, TRC is all ours. For the rest of the evening, we can climb, boulder, hang out, eat, and watch movies. The two TRC staff can also teach belaying. At 2am, we conclude all the climbing activities and TRC’s staff are “off,” which means one will go home and the other will sleep in one of the upstairs offices. After 2am, they ask that us to keep our activities at a relatively low-energy, quiet level. We can play games, socialize, watch movies, and even sleep if we so choose. We have to leave promptly at 7am. Any parent’s providing transportation will need to be at TRC by that time.
